Jenna-Louise Coleman has been a British actor for many years. She is best known as Clara Oswald, the character she portrayed in Doctor Who. She began acting at a young age as a member of Yer Space, a theatre group, and was involved in the production of Crystal Clear at Edinburgh Festival. Coleman's performance was well-received and she won an award. Coleman's big break was when she got the role of Jasmine Thomas, in Emmerdale. The soapy show continued through 2009. Jasmine Thomas was her character in the National Television Awards 2006. She won a nomination as Most Popular Freshman at that award ceremony. In 2011, Coleman's film debut came as Connie on the film Captain America The First Avenger. Coleman's biggest opportunity to show her versatility came when she accepted the opportunity to portray the ex- British monarch Queen Victoria on ITV's Victoria. She has played a schoolgirl called Lindsay James in the BBC drama Waterloo Road to playing an empress on Victoria, Coleman has come a long way in proving her ability as an actor.
